So, I haven't even posted since sweet Coley was born, but he is an absolute bundle of fun and joy now!
Last night, Sept. 15 he got his first bites of "solid" food - aka Rice Cereal - which he absolutely LOVED! The chunky monkey would whine when I would take the spoon out of his mouth to get more cereal (he is his daddy's son) :) Cole is doing lots of things now - rolling over, standing up (he loves doing this with Daddy), giggling, smiling ALL the time, and just being the most pleasant baby ever. Every time he smiles at me, I am filled with such love and can't imagine that our Savior loves us SO much more than I love my sweet baby - how is that possible?! I truly believe this sweet child has taught me so much about God's overflowing love for us - and to think that He gave His ONLY son to us because He had such unfailing and amazing love for us. How can you not want to serve an awesome God like that?!
Some girls from church are doing a Beth Moore Bible study called The Patriarchs, which is teaching us about the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. I was so moved by this past week's study about Abraham and Sarah conceiving in their old age and then Abraham offering his son Issac, through whom God has promised to make Abraham's descendants into many nations. I loved that throughout the entire "trial" Abraham trusted that God would provide a sacrifice instead of Issac, but nonetheless he trusted God to the point of placing his one and only son on the altar. I don't know about anyone else, but I can be pretty certain that I would not have been so faithful to my Lord in such a trial. I know I should be reminded that He is not human and He will ALWAYS be faithful to me -
"Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands." - Deuteronomy 7:9
My prayer today is this:
Father God, help us to be faithful to you, the Great I AM. The faithful God who lavishes his unfailing love on us. May we seek your will and obey your commands to honor you. Thank you for the wonderful promise of 2 Timothy 2:13 which reminds us that no matter how faithless we may be, You will always remain faithful. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit in me to glorify you in all I do. Amen.
